Celtic Gladiators hits the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester in Feb 24th and we are pleased to announce our main event; Pietro ‘Pitbull’ Menga (13-0) steps back into the cage for the first time since July 2016 as he takes on wily Brazilian Raymison Bruno Souza De Oliviera (Raymison 'Formiga' Bruno 10-1)
Menga is coming off the disappointment of being unable to make weight for a short notice fight in the UFC but that hasn’t dampened his spirits: “It was always a big ask to make it [the weight 126lbs] on such short notice and regardless of the outcome I gained a lot from the whole experience. I’m concentrating on the kind of shape and world class performance in my next fight only. If anything it has most certainly added fuel to the fire. I believe im one of the best flyweights in the world and fight night is going to be something special for me and my fans.”
Menga’s last outing was a highlight reel KO in Bellator, and you can be assured the ‘Pitbull’ wants to continue to prove he is world class with another impressive win at Celtic Gladiators: “I’m enjoying training hard, having fun and improving my skillset, the fight is just an opportunity for me to test how much each time I go out there. A happy fighter with the fire I’ve got right now is a very dangerous fighter. However, my opponent looks very good, hes elite level and unbeaten at flyweight, but he hasnt faced a level of opponent such as me yet. He is a high level BJJ specialist but I am a high level MMA specialist, so lets see. Clean striking and solid grappling is what I bring along with a high fight IQ. Also he looks like he has a very big head so I will be looking to ping shots off that at every opportunity.”
His opponent doesn’t lack experience and the 10-1 Brazilian native De Oliviera brings a well rounded game, impressive submission skills, durability and incredible cardio to the table. De Oliviera now trains out of ADOG one of Spain’s premier MMA gyms, and has no intention of rolling over for Menga.
The stakes are high for these two Fly Weight Gladiators. On Feb 24th Menga gets another opportunity to show he is truly world class and De Oliviera can steal all that momentum.
